There are many ways in which you can share your time and talents with the school community. You can volunteer for any activity of your choice, and we encourage all parent families to volunteer as much of their talent and time as they possibly can. You can find a wide variety of activities organized by East Catholic PTG (Parent Teacher Guild). Participation in them not only adds vibrancy to the school year, but some of them actually help in generating funds for the School.
Parent Volunteers are always needed in the school, especially in the cafeteria and as monitors on the playground at lunch time. Parent volunteers must be in compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment Policy before they can volunteer. Information on this policy can be found under the About Us/Volunteering Tab on this website.
Remember that ALL volunteers need to have all clearances. This includes (but is not limited to) coming into your child’s classroom for a Star Student Day, Santa’s Workshop shopping and chaperoning field trips.
Go to www.diopitt.org/protect to begin the process. Click on “Protection of Children”, then choose “School Volunteer” and complete all steps as directed. Everyone must register on the diocesan database (even if you have clearances for another reason such as employment). When registering on the database, you will be asked to enter a password in the “access code field”, the password is: protect. You should allow 3 months for all clearances to be obtained. Copies of your clearances should be sent to the school office, ATTN: Sr. Judith Stojhovic.
